A group of hikers have had quite the shock after a member of the group reportedly slipped off the track.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews are in the process of rescuing a hiker who is said to have fallen off a track at Girraween National Park at around 3pm on Friday.

A QFES spokesman said a fire and rescue crew had arrived on scene at around 4pm and were preparing to head into the track.

The unknown person is said to have fallen in an area where they’ve been unable to get themselves out.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics and fire and rescue crews had located the injured hiker, who is reported to have sustained minor ankle and head injuries.

Due to the rocky location of the incident, emergency crews are working to determine an extraction plan.

More to come.
