The family of a man who remains in a critical condition after coming off his motorcycle are now staring in the face of uncertainty.
Father-of-two Robbie Elson was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital on October 29, after a crash on the New England Highway, about 5km from his hometown of Stanthorpe.
Mitch Thomas, a close friend of Mr Elson, recently created a GoFundMe in a bid to help raise vital funds to support his family, with more than $3000 already raised.
Mr Thomas described his friend as “the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back and ask for nothing in return”.
“Whether it’s family, friends, or even a stranger in need, Robbie is always there, stepping up and making a difference,” Mr Thomas wrote.
Now unable to care for his two teenage children, his family is left facing a profound uncertainty.
“Robbie has two teenage children who depend on him deeply,” Mr Thomas wrote.
“His son requires continuous support from the NDIS, and with only limited school hours due to his needs, Robbie’s presence and care have been essential.
“Now, with Robbie unable to provide that support, his family is facing the kind of uncertainty that no one should ever have to endure.”
The fundraiser is aiming to raise $10,000 to support Mr Elson and his family.
