Residents have expressed their concerns on social media following reports of a man allegedly stalking a young woman in Warwick yesterday.

A post describing the incident quickly racked up more than 70 shares in less than 24 hours, and garnered a terrified reaction from the Rose City community.

According to the poster, at around 5.30pm a young woman was running along Victoria St - a route frequented by many getting exercise - when she noticed a man in a black hatchback following her at distance.

The man reportedly parked and got out of the vehicle, then “chased” the young woman through a clearing off Victoria St, while “videoing and calling out to her” while in pursuit from behind.

The woman reported the man as being “middle aged, wavy black hair, average height, thicker build and of Indian appearance”.

A Warwick Police officer confirmed the matter had been reported to police later that night.

“Police are investigating and looking into the matter,” the officer said.

The officer also confirmed they had not had any similar reports recently of like incidents.

Residents were quick to offer sympathy and interest in the reported matter, with one resident writing “that makes my skin crawl”.

“I hope someone has him on dashcam,” another commented.

“That's horrific. Hope they find the sicko. Definitely will be on the lookout for that description.”
