One of Warwick’s biggest shopping precincts has been sold for a whopping seven-figure sum, bringing potential to breathe new life into the once-bustling retail complex.
The Harvey Norman Centre on Victoria Street was snapped up by a Brisbane developer at auction earlier this month for $1.8 million.
The property listing by LJ Hooker Toowoomba has revealed the new ownership could spark plans to overhaul the prominent Warwick space.
“There are only two tenants. The first, Harvey Norman, is on a holdover and – while not pressing for a new lease – (they) have indicated an interest to enter into discussions with a new owner to secure tenure in exchange for a centre upgrade,” it read.
“The second tenant is an in-home childcare provider whose lease expires in the middle of 2022.”
While it may now be home to only the two businesses, the Harvey Norman Centre was once one of Warwick’s busiest shopping areas.
Previous online listings for the centre include Dwan’s Cafe, Pai’s Diner, the RACQ Service Centre, and Civic Video.
There has been no indication at this stage whether new businesses will be joining the precinct.
Other major retail listings in Warwick at the moment include boutique motel 53 on Victoria and the Enchanted Garden Nursery located on Alexandra Drive.
