Bringing close to three decades’ experience in high-end kitchens and bars around the country, the couple behind Warwick’s first craft brewery plan to make their venture unlike anything the Rose City has seen before.

Dean and Tamika Alsford will open the doors to Psycho Suzie’s Brewing at their spacious Fitzroy St premises on Monday, hoping their combination of high-quality products with affordability and a relaxed atmosphere will put a fresh spin on Warwick’s bar and dining scene.

Mr Alsford said they would open the venue with a range of 10 craft beers on tap and wines from Granite Belt favourite Heritage Estate Wines, with plans to get their own brews under way as soon as their final applications were approved.

“The beers we have on tap to start are all sourced locally from Stanthorpe, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast,” he said.

“The whole idea is that it’s good beer and bringing people together.”

Mr and Mrs Alsford moved to the region from Melbourne four years ago, with the chef and bartender leaving their respective roles running the kitchen of Spicer’s Lodge and cocktail bar at Bluebird Smokehouse and Kitchen to get their own business up and running.

Having worked in high-end establishments in several cities around Australia, Mr Alsford says he and his wife want to fill a gap in the Warwick market between a country pub and nightclub.

He said a kitchen and menu designed to complement their upcoming range of brews would also be in the works once they were up and running, though their focus for now remained making their grand opening a success.

“It’s easy from the outside looking in to see what the town is missing,” he said.

“It’s something different, but still approachable. It’s about high quality at a solid price point.”

“There really is something for everyone.”

Psycho Suzie’s Brewery will open daily at midday from Monday, August 8.
