Southbound motorists on the Pacific Motorway were plagued by long delays after a truck caught fire on Monday evening.
Emergency services were called at approximately 6pm to reports of a truck fire in the southbound lanes near exit 49.
M1 lane reduction after huge truck trailer fire at peak commuter hour
A QFES spokesman said the one trailer on the B-double had ignited before being pulled over to the side of the road and disconnected from the truck.
He said crews had the fire under control at 7:20pm with the cause of the fire unknown.
A police spokeswoman said the trailer was fully engulfed and police ruled out any risk of explosion.
A7 6:26pm police advised motorists to expect delays with only one southbound lane operating.
At 8pm delays were still at 25 minutes with motorists expected to take 28 minutes to travel the 12 kilometres between exit 38 and 49.
