A second young man has died as the result of an accident at Wolvi, near Gympie, on Sunday night.

A GoFundMe established for Zac Moye, 18, has revealed the teenager with “a huge heart” succumbed to serious injuries he suffered when the car he and two others were travelling in collided with a tree on Vines Road about 8pm.

His death came just hours after the driver of the car, 18-year-old Rykah Burr, also died.

A girl, 15, who was also in the car, was treated in hospital after the crash but has since been released.

The creator of the Zac Moye fundraiser page, Rebecca Holt, said Zac “fought till the end but unfortunately, he has succumbed to his injuries”.

“His family and friends are absolutely devastated,” she said.

“He was such an energetic, happy young man with his whole life ahead of him.

“He had a huge heart and he loved his family and mates, sports and fishing.”

The teenager grew up in Kilkivan and “made many friends over the years”.

“Unfortunately, Zac had a rough start to his teenage years and came into foster care and became a big part of our family where we welcomed him with open arms.

“He loved going to the Widgee Bushman’s bar to sing karaoke.

“We will always remember his smile and funny personality.

“He is much loved and missed by his family, friends and the community of Kilkivan and Widgee.

“Life is so precious. Fly high mate.”

On Wednesday night the family of Rykah Burr confirmed on social media that he had died from his injuries.

The 18-year-old had been in an induced coma in a Brisbane hospital following the crash on Vines Road.

Rykah’s mother Nikki revealed the news of his death in a Facebook post late Wednesday night.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart and complete devastation beyond words that we want to let everyone know who loves and has supported Rykah that my perfect son, the most amazing brother, nephew, cousin and friend anyone could ever have wished for has lost his fight for life and has sadly passed away,” she said.

“We know that this will affect so many people as he was loved and respected by everyone from all walks of life, he was the young man who was completely selfless and always put everyone before himself, please hold each other tight and support each other through this hard time.

“Rykah never left the house without telling his family he loved them, please always remember to say I love you to the people you care about because we never know what tomorrow will bring, Rykah left a legacy of love and kindness beyond measure and we will hold him in our hearts forever and always.

“Eighteen years with him was not long enough but to have known him at all was a true privilege and an honour.

“Until we meet again we know you will be kicking goals in that big footy field in the sky.”

He was also remembered as an “amazing young man” with a “cheeky smile”.

Rykah’s aunt, Gabrielle Wallace, took to Facebook this morning, writing that his death was a “monumental loss”.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts and profound sadness that we share the devastating news that at 6pm last night Rykah’s heart beat for the very last time,” she wrote.

“There are no words to describe the monumental loss we feel with Rykah’s passing, it is a pain so sharp it takes the breath away. Our hearts are truely (sic) broken.”

Ms Wallace said it is “impossible” imagining their future without Rykah.

“Trying to imagine our journey ahead without his cheeky smile and unique brand of humour is just impossible,” she wrote.

“He was an amazing young man with the brightest of futures ahead of him and we mourn not only his presence but also all those things that will never be. “

Ms Wallace, who created a GoFundMe page earlier this week to raise money for Rykah’s family, thanked everyone who donated.

“The funds that are being raised from this fundraiser will now go towards giving Rykah a beautiful farewell and supporting his family while they take time to grieve,” she wrote.

“We can never thank you all enough for digging deep and supporting Rykah.

“His family have received so many messages sharing love and precious memories and these acts of kindness have really meant the world to them.”
