PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk has reassured tourists from around the world the Gold Coast is a safe place to visit in the wake of four deaths at Dreamworld.
“The Gold Coast is extremely safe,” she said, fresh from her latest briefing from Police Commissioner Ian Stewart.
“I want to reassure people we will leave no stone unturned to get to the bottom of this.
“This is the worst tragedy that we’ve seen at a theme park in Queensland in my living history.”
Ms Palaszczuk said she did not want the accident to have a lasting impact on Gold Coast tourism.
She said a phone number would soon be released for people who had witnessed the “absolutely horrific” scene or been at the park today to call to seek counselling help.
“People are going to be traumatised by what they actually witnessed there today at Dreamworld,” she said.
“Everyone’s feeling it tonight.”
