Two boys were stabbed after a New Year’s party spilled out on to the streets in Brisbane’s south, while on the Sunshine Coast two teens allegedly assaulted another with broken glass.

It comes as officers arrested about 100 people during New Year’s celebrations.

Police said preliminary investigations southside suggested a large house party at Sunnybank Hills spilled out into the street where two teenagers were stabbed.
Two boys, aged 15 and 16, were involved in altercations with other teenagers in the street about 11.20pm Saturday.

Police said the 16-year-old was stabbed in his abdomen and the 15-year-old in his upper thigh.

Both were taken to hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

“Those involved fled the scene prior to police arrival,” police said in a statement.

Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Stream said a number of youths attended the party uninvited.

“During attempts to direct those persons away, a disturbance initiated,” he said.

“And unfortunately we saw two juveniles, 15 and 16-year-old one stabbed in the torso, one stabbed in the upper thigh.”
Detectives from the Child Protection and Investigation Unit have appealed for the youths involved or any other partygoers who witnessed the incident to contact police.

In a separate incident, two teens allegedly assaulted a Victorian boy, 15, with a broken bottle at Main Beach at Noosa on Saturday.

The Victorian boy was taken to hospital in a stable condition with facial injuries.

Police said they would allege two teens approached the 15-year-old, striking him multiple times with the broken bottle about 10.40pm.

The boys fled but were found by police on the boardwalk.

A Highgate Hill boy, 17, and a Camira boy, 16, have been charged one grievous bodily harm.

The Highgate Hill boy was denied police bail and will appear in Maroochydore Childrens Court. The other boy will appear at a later date, according to police.

Police said officers arrested about 100 people on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane’s night precinct areas on New Year’s Eve.

Officers arrested 41 people on 55 charges in the South Bank, Brisbane CBD and Fortitude Valley areas.

Twenty people were arrested on 23 charges on the Gold Coast and 34 people were arrested on 41 charges on the Sunshine Coast.

Police said the majority of charges were for anti-social behavior and alcohol-related incidents such as public nuisance and liquor offences.
