Teenager killed in Yeppoon crash ‘didn’t have a bad bone in his body’

A 16-year-old boy killed in a single-car crash in Central Queensland overnight has been identified as a popular Year 11 student at St Brendan’s College at Yeppoon.

A TEENAGE boy killed in a car crash near Yeppoon on Wednesday night was a beloved member of St Brendan’s College, known for his sense of humour and a “send it” philosophy on life.

Rhys Yore, 16, died when the silver Ford Falcon sedan he was in left the road on Appleton Drive and rolled near the Fig Tree Creek Bridge, shortly before midnight.

Rhys was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.

Rhys was in Year 11 at St Brendan’s College.

Two other occupants, the 18-year-old male driver and 16-year-old female passenger, were treated for minor injuries and later transported to the Rockhampton Base Hospital for observations.

Friends of the teenager have told of his witty humour and his easygoing nature.

“He was a humorous and great mate,” Mack Nixon told The Courier-Mail.

“He always made people laugh and will always be remembered for that.”

Rhys’ Facebook page includes the phrase “send it”, which encourages people to live their life to the fullest.

Madi Reynolds said Rhys “didn’t have a bad bone in his body”.

“Anyone that knew him would know that he had the biggest heart.”

Riley Sloan said Rhys’ death was “hard to accept”.

“Some truths in life are hard to accept. Your memories will never be forgotten,” Mr Sloan said.

“Those will always remain with us forever.”

Police are appealing for anyone with a dashcam or who may have noticed the vehicle in the area around midnight to come forward.
