A teenager, 16, has died after a car left the road and rolled, throwing him from the vehicle, in Central Queensland overnight.

Critical care paramedics were called to the crash on Appleton Drive in Yeppoon just after midnight on Thursday.

“The 16-year-old Taranganba boy was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene,” police said in a statement.

He was a passenger of the vehicle.

The 18-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and a female passenger, 16, was treated for chest and abdominal injuries.

They were both taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.

Initial investigations indicate the silver Ford Falcon sedan was travelling south on Appleton Drive near the Fig Tree Creek Bridge shortly after midnight, before it left the road and rolled.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

“Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam or who may have noticed the vehicle in the area around midnight to come forward,” police said.
