Shocking brawl involving teen girls at Beaudesert Public Library

Horrified staff at Beaudesert Public Library have been embroiled in a violent brawl between teenage girls, resulting in police attending and locking down the premises.

The fight erupted outside the library on Monday afternoon, then continued inside as four adults desperately tried to prise the Beaudesert State High School students apart.

The brutal altercation took place on the same day principal Grant Stephensen wrote to parents and said reports of bullying “have not reflected the reality of our school … (which) regularly reminds all students of our expectations around positive behaviour”.

Shocking video footage supplied to The Courier-Mail shows one girl on the ground outside screaming, “get the f-ck off”, as she is repeatedly punched in the head, stomped on and has her hair pulled by another girl.

“Let go of my hair, c---,” she yells as onlookers do nothing.

In the library, the violence escalates, with two female staff and two males trying to prize the pair apart as a third girl joins in.

The girl who was on the ground outside is again on the floor, screaming, “Come here b-tch, I’ll f---ing kill you,” she shouts.

“Come on c---, you want to talk sh-t …”

A staffer tries to help her, saying “Come on, sweetie, get up”, before the child is again set upon.

“Don’t hit her, leave her, leave her!” the woman screams.

A Beaudesert State High School source said the fight was “disgusting and typical of what’s happening at the moment at that school”.

“Library staff were terrified, and police were called and they put the library into lockdown,” the person said.

Beaudesert High has come under repeated fire over an alleged toxic culture of bullying after the suicide deaths of two children.

Both families of Onyx Rose Lambert, 13, and Lilly Osborne, 16, said their children were victims of unchecked bullying over many years while at the regional school, 67km south of Brisbane.

Parents have told The Courier-Mail incidents of bullying – including children being bashed to the point of needing corrective surgery and being told to go kill themselves – are not investigated.

Victims are advised to “avoid” the perpetrators while parents are accused of being “over-protective”.

The principal was contacted for comment on Monday’s brawl and has previously declined to answer questions put by The Courier-Mail.

An email sent from the administration said “the principal is currently off site and we have referred your enquiry to the department’s media team”.

In a statement, police said they were called to a Brisbane Street library in Beaudesert at approximately 4.20pm on Monday, July 31, following reports of an alleged altercation between two teenage girls.

Upon arrival, a 15-year-old South MacLean girl was located with minor injuries.

A 52-year-old female staff member was also allegedly assaulted when she attempted to intervene.

A 13-year-old Beaudesert girl was not physically injured and was taken into police custody at the scene.

“She is being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said.

“Investigations are continuing.”

An Education Queensland spokesperson said the department was aware of the incident but as it was being investigated, it was unable to make further comment.
