The sister-in-law of a woman who was left with serious leg injuries in a hit-and-run last week has made an impassioned appeal on social media.
Keeley Skipper took to Facebook yesterday to call for anyone who may know anything about the crash to come forward.
“Not only did the driver leave the scene, they have also failed to do the right thing and hand themselves in,” she wrote.
“Not only has this incident caused significant physical harm, it has also caused significant physiological stressors.”
Ms Skipper said her sister-in-law was unable to work and had lost her income.
“Please, if you know anything or anyone who resides in the area who may have security cameras or dashcam, or any panel beaters who may have recently repaired a vehicle of the same description, please do the right thing.”
Police are still searching for the driver of the second car.
A police spokeswoman said the woman was stepping out of her parked BYD Atto 3 on Vaughan Ave, Maroochydore, when she was struck.
A second vehicle, believed to be a dark coloured Hyundai sedan, was driving in the opposite direction along the avenue towards Millwell Rd when it struck the BYD and the passenger before it left the scene.
The 24-year-old female passenger sustained serious leg injuries and was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital by paramedics.
The 43-year-old male driver of the BYD was uninjured.
Today, a Queensland Police Service spokesman said the search for the hit-and-run driver continued, with no arrests or charges being laid.
Witnesses or nearby residents with CCTV or drivers with dashcam footage are encouraged to provide any evidence to police.
