Plans for a Sunshine Coast hinterland retreat, featuring a series of unique tiny homes equipped with outdoor baths and herb gardens on a working farm, have been submitted to the local council.

The development proposal was submitted by RPS Group to the Sunshine Coast Council on January 15 with plans to expand a unique ‘hipcamp’ in the Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Witta by a further two tiny homes.

Each of the new tiny homes would be equipped with a private deck and outdoor bath on movable trailers tucked away in secluded spots within the 55ha property at 601 Maleny Kenilworth Rd.

The application documents outline the two new tiny homes would join three pre-existing short-term accommodation sites, including a 5m glamping tent and recycled carriage cabin, while sharing communal facilities consisting of a wood-fired pizza oven, dining and shower facilities.

“Each accommodation offering is small in scale and wholly contained within a height of circa 3.5m,” the planning report states.

“The nature of the property and its rural setting provides guests with access to generous amounts of open space to explore and appreciate the site and its natural features.”

The development plans describe the eclectic range of tiny homes as being unique and entirely self-contained with views looking out over the “uninterrupted hinterland landscape”.

“Tuscan is a small scale and single storey tiny home (on trailer with wheels) located central to the activity area and among the surrounding hinterland landscape,” the planning report states.

“This existing form of accommodation is approximately 28 square metres and equipped with all necessary components to be self-contained, including a queen bed, eco toilet, kitchen, dining and access to an outdoor bath and onsite herb garden.

“Proximal to the centralised communal facilities, Tuscan is a short walk to the woodfire pizza oven, dining, toilet and shower facilities.”
