A Sunshine Coast hinterland town five minutes from Eumundi could soon be home to the region’s latest wedding venue with on-site accommodation catering for gatherings of up to 300 people.

Development plans for 261 Eumundi-Kenilworth Rd, Eerwah Vale, were submitted by Danya Cook Town Planning on behalf of the developer in late 2023 and propose the former cattle-grazing land be transformed into a wedding venue with a “tranquil outlook” and “rolling green pastures”.

Development documents state the proposed site is owned by Eerwah Vale Mountain Park Pty Ltd.

The documents state the site is described as an alternative to other popular event venues in the hinterland due to the lack of neighbouring businesses.

“The site benefits from a tranquil outlook across the valley to the countryside surrounded by nature and rolling hills, featuring a mix of rolling green pastures, pockets of native vegetation, and several dams and waterways,” the documents state.

Plans show the venue, if approved, would feature two chapels “strategically positioned” on the site to take in the best views as well as a reception space.

The first chapel would be an open-air space with no enclosed walls, while the second would serve as a fully-enclosed, all-weather space.

The development application states each wedding would be able to cater for gatherings of 300 people, with resources to host up to three events each week.

“The facility is intended to operate as a full-service wedding and events venue, offering on-site accommodation, event coordination and catering,” the application says.

“It is intended that the wedding venue is available any day of the week to accommodate the bride and groom’s preferred day of celebration. Operating hours will be from 7am to 10pm, with all patrons, except those staying on-site in the cabins, having vacated the property by 11pm.

“Wedding events could be up to three per week, and the venue can cater for a maximum of 300 patrons.”
