Shocking footage has captured the moment a young Sunshine Coast learner driver swerved to avoid an oncoming car which was speeding towards her in the incorrect lane.
A concerned mother took to social media to share her daughter’s near miss in what could have been a serious car crash had she not taken control in time.
The footage was captured on Hunchy Rd, Montville on Wednesday morning.
The shocking dashcam footage showed the learner driver out on a driving lesson – when suddenly another car comes speeding around the corner of the windy hinterland road, in the wrong lane.
The learner driver fortunately reacted swiftly and swerved into the right side lane – narrowly avoiding a collision and potentially saving lives.
Mooloolah Valley locals were quick to jump to the defence of the young driver on social media.
“Here to comment on how quick her reaction was and how well she has done to avoid an accident 10/10 driving skills already,” Jenna Henderson said.
“Congratulations. You have just passed your license test,” Ian Wood said.
“Epic response time! Your daughter reacted before she knew what she was doing,” Linda Daleboudt said.
“Well handled, it could have been so much worse had your daughter not been concentrating as well as she was. Well done for her evasive action,” Ashley McFadden said.
“Man she handled that like a boss! Learner award! Good job,” Corey Hayes said.
“She did very well to avoid that,” Jai Russell said.
“Wow, the learner avoided that so well, that other driver should never be allowed to drive again, unfortunately there are some total bloody lunatics out there these days and more so out on these country roads,” Tony Rigby said.
