Shocking footage of a vile act has surfaced online of a man riding a motorcycle spitting through an open car window onto a woman in a wild road rage incident on the Sunshine Coast.

The video was posted to social media last night, Tuesday, November 5.

The footage shows a middle-aged man riding a motorcycle, wearing a white T-shirt and black sunglasses, riding past a car with a blonde haired woman driving.

It was taken at River Esplanade, Maroochydore, on Monday, November 4, about 9.30am.

As he rides past he can be seen turning and spitting directly on the young woman through an open car window.

The blonde woman screams in response.

In the video he then rides off and there is talking, yelling, and swearing between those involved.

The footage then shows another man in a blue shirt, sunglasses and a bucket hat standing up for the young, blonde woman.

She thanks him.

In Queensland it is illegal to spit on another person.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed police were investigating the attack, and no charges had been laid.

Initial investigations indicate a man riding a motorcycle spat at a vehicle while it was travelling along River Esplanade about 9.30am.

Police said the rider then left the scene.

The driver, a 42-year-old Mooloolaba woman, and her passenger were not physically injured.

A 47-year-old Sunshine Coast man is assisting police with investigations and no charges had been laid.

This comes off the back of footage of an unrelated road rage incident turned racist fight surfacing on the Sunshine Coast in late September.

Earlier this year a Sunshine Coast woman who was filmed having her legs crushed by a ute in another road rage incident.

It was reported in October this year that more Queensland drivers are getting aggressive behind the wheel, triggering an alarming number of people to carry weapons when they drive, according to unsettling new RACQ data.

RACQ’s Annual Road Safety Survey shows 84 per cent of people think road rage is getting worse, up 10 per cent since 2020.

The confronting scenes have concerningly led to 7.6 per cent of people admitting they carry a weapon in their car, up from 4.8 per cent last year.
