A 24-year-old chef has gone from burger flipping at Hungry Jack’s to expanding a business empire which is winning over new fans each week.
Carter Williams and his family are dealing with rapidly-growing popularity as their Venice Gourmet Pizza, Pasta and Ribs brand takes off.
The former Hungry Jack’s manager had dreamt of branching out and showing his flair for food.
The now head chef said their business had taken off, after humble beginnings.
Mr Williams, his father and his stepmother took over the business in 2016 and now employed about 30 staff.
About two years ago they expanded, securing sites on Bulcock Street specifically for their dine-in and takeaway arms.
“We used to be about 50m down the road but moved here as we were getting full every weekend and wanted more dining space,” he said.
“After the move we really took off and just before Covid-19 hit we bought another store just a few hundred metres up the road to take care of the takeaway and deliveries.
“We didn't even move that far from our initial location but just being on the corner and being so easy to recognise means our business has gone up 200%.”
The 24-year-old said the idea to expand to two separate locations was confusing at first.
“Sometimes it’s a bit difficult and can be confusing at the beginning with customers but it’s been really good for us,” he said.
“The whole dine-in experience is much more enjoyable for the customers and even for us in the kitchen.”
Mr Williams who formerly worked at Hungry Jack’s said he was proud of what he’d achieved at such a young age.
“I was a manager at Hungry Jack’s but I wanted to get more involved and learn how to cook other food,” he said.
“I’ve been a chef for a total of four years now and being able to make people happy through food is definitely the best part.
“I know people are coming here for my food and that I’m improving and learning all the time which helps my mindset grow.”
