A Sunshine Coast dad and avid guitar player has been remembered for the love he had for his family after his sudden death in Twin Waters this month.

Maroochydore man Benjamin Amos, 49, was sadly found dead in bushland near the Twin Waters boat ramp at Nojoor Rd on September 22, 2022,

Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have launched inquiries into Mr Amos’ death but it’s understood there were no suspicious circumstances.

In the days since his death, those close to the 49-year-old father-of-three have remembered the cheeky guitar player for the undying love he had for those around him.

His mother Denyse Amos said her son had been looking after her due to a leg injury while working towards visiting his three children Arion, Sahara and Ayla in New Zealand in the lead up to his passing.

“It’s a huge loss for me and for everyone, you just feel like a part has been ripped out of your heart,” she said.

“He was always family focused and had the gift of the gab (sic), he would be able to sell Tasmania if he wanted to.”

Mrs Amos said her son had been in and out of custody during his life but had turned to religion in his later years, inspiring those within correctional centres to turn their lives around like he did.

Mr Amos was sentenced in 2018 for drug trafficking, but the Brisbane Supreme Court heard how he had converted to Christianity while in custody and started preaching as he built up a strong support network, his arrest proving a turning point in his life and he was released upon sentencing.

Mrs Amos said his three children were his world, with the 49-year-old focused on his family after his release, as well as spending time at the beach and playing guitar.

She said he would always be strumming away with his musical repertoire ranging from Spanish-influenced to Bob Marley and even Dire Straits.

“He loved a yarn too, and we’ll just miss his smile and the way that he always made you happy,” she said.

Close friend Darren Moylan agreed saying Mr Amos, who was his daughter’s godfather, touched so many lives through his religious work.

“He had the biggest heart in the world mate, he changed so many people’s lives in a godly way, and he would honestly do anything for anyone,” Mr Moylan said.

“Ben was my rock and he changed me, and I’m going to miss him so much.”

His former partner Lynda Hill said Mr Amos was the “most gentle soul” and had become a father figure for her young daughter Charlotte.

“He forgave anyone for anything and was just extremely caring,” Ms Hill said.

“He wanted to save the world but never himself.”

A fundraiser has been started to raise money for Mr Amos’ funeral, to donate head to mycause.com.au and search Funds for Benny Amos.
