A father-of-three and FIFO worker was found with more than $100k worth of marijuana at his Mooloolah Valley home that he was dealing and offering in exchange for sexual favours, a court has heard.

Troy Andrew Cannon, now 45, was given 15 months’ imprisonment suspended for three years in Maroochydore District Court on July 18, 2022.

The court heard Cannon had his Mooloolah Valley home searched on March 16 by police who seized his mobile phone.

An examination of his mobile phone revealed that between February 12 and March 15 of 2021, Cannon on 16 occasions supplied or offered to supply marijuana to seven different people.

He actually supplied “relatively small quantities” of marijuana on eight occasions and offered to supply seven times.

On some occasions he would offer the drug in exchange for sexual favours, the court heard.

Judge Gary Long said there was also one occasion where he offered to supply MDMA to someone.

Mr Long said there was a degree of sophistication as Cannon had a set-up in a shipping container with equipment.

During the search police found 26 plants ranging in height from 10cm to 1.5m, weighing 2.61kg.

There were a further 34 plants growing in bushland on the property, weighing 4.59kg.

“It is estimated that a street value is somewhere between $116,000 and $133,000,” Mr Long told the court.

Dried cannabis was also found, totalling 1.924kg with an estimated street value of $23,000 to $27,000.

Defence barrister Lachlan Ygoa-McKeown said Cannon was born in Kilcoy and worked as a FIFO arborist in NSW.

Mr Ygoa-McKeown said his client had cooperated with police during the search and primarily used the marijuana for personal use to manage his mental health.

Cannon pleaded guilty to 19 offences including 16 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing anything used in the commision of a drug offence.
