An iced-up 33-year-old has avoided jail time after he smashed a bus window in a violent rampage and assaulted his mum while she was driving.

An iced-up 33-year-old has avoided jail time after he smashed a bus window in a violent rampage and assaulted his mum while she was driving.

A 33-year-old man has walked free on parole after a drug-fuelled rampage in which he smashed a bus window and assaulted his own mother.

The Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard how Travis Mark Collis had injected himself with six points of ice before heading to the Nambour bus station on May 4.

He started to cause a disturbance and harrass members of the public at the bus station at 6pm.

The first victim was a bus driver of Kangaroo Bus Lines, who told Collis he wasn’t going where he asked to be taken.

The bus driver told Collis to step off the bus and the driver locked the door.

“You’re a f-----g idiot open the f-----g bus,” Collis said to the bus driver.

Collis eventually left but was seen by the driver continuing to yell and swear abuse towards the members of the public including a woman who boarded the bus to seek refuge.

The bus driver locked the door again and Collis punched the left hand side passenger glass window, causing it to smash.

Police were called and took Collis to the watchhouse, the court heard.

A few months later on July 1, Collis was a passenger in a car with his mother who was helping him to find accommodation.

He became angry at his mum and called her a “piece of s--t” before using a clenched fist and pushing it to the side of her face two to three times while she was driving.

Collis also poked her in the face which made his mum upset and prompted her to notify police.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to public nuisance, serious assault of a person over 60 and wilful damage.

He was sentenced to nine months’ prison but was released on parole immediately.
