A Noosa carpenter who, along with a police officer, has been charged with assault and deprivation of liberty wanted his bail changed for a wedding but his lawyer could not be found by a Maroochydore court.

Mitchell William Cramp, 32 and Timothy Stephen Brown, 39 are each charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm while in company and deprivation of liberty.

Court documents show that police allege Mr Brown and Mr Cramp assaulted a man in Marcoola on February 10, 2024.

No pleas have been entered.

Court documents listed Mr Brown’s occupation as a police officer.

The court previously heard Mr Cramp worked as a carpenter in Noosa and had been good, long-term friends with Mr Brown.

The matters were mentioned in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday, May 17 after they first appeared in court a day prior.

Police prosecutor Pedau Grabbe told the court the two alleged co-offenders had the date of the next court appearance mixed up.

Mr Brown is now due to appear on June 13.

Defence lawyer Jim Coburn applied to vary Mr Cramp’s bail condition of not contacting his co-accused in order to attend a wedding later in the month.

The court heard Mr Cramp had received watch house bail, which imposed the no contact condition, unlike Mr Brown who was on a notice to appear in court.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist called Mr Coburn several times in court but to no avail and the matter was adjourned to May 27.
