A Queensland woman is going viral on TikTok for sharing how she works as a private investigator to expose cheating husbands and do background checks on dating app matches.
The Sunshine Coast TikTok-famous woman Cassie Crofts is a private investigator unlike most others.
Ms Crofts, 36, of Buderim, said what she did was vastly different to the usual insurance or police private investigators.
Whether it is a shady Hinge match or a partner whose late meetings and odd purchases don’t add up, she is on the case.
Armed with cutting-edge technology, serious investigative skills and a healthy dose of determination, Ms Croft digs deep to uncover the facts in someone’s love life.
“We’re not just investigators; we’re your personal truth-finding squad,” she said.
“Think of us as part Sherlock Holmes, part your most-trusted girlfriend, and 100 per cent dedicated to helping you navigate the tough stuff.
“No more guessing games. Let’s find the truth together.”
Private investigator’s own background
After previously working in media, Ms Crofts trained to become a private investigator in 2023 and launched her own business Venus Investigations early last year.
She said women deserved more support and safety measures, especially when using dating apps.
Her background checks start at $25 and help women to verify if what these men tell them on dating apps is the truth.
Her mantra is “catch red flags before you catch feelings”.
Ms Crofts said she only started her business TikTok account a few weeks ago and was not expecting it to go viral.
Her videos have blown up with tens of thousands of likes and hundreds of thousands of views.
One particular story detailing how she helped a Sunshine Coast woman catch her cheating husband by tracking his fly-bys had more than 90,000 views.
Why she started on TikTok
Ms Croft said she was fed up seeing her beautiful, smart and successful women friends going out with men who turned out to be catfish, liars or cheaters.
“There’s so much information available online to catch them in the early stages,” she said.
“But women don’t usually find out until it’s too late.
“A lot of the time they already know and have a gut feeling about it by the time they come to me. They just don’t trust their instincts and are often gaslit by these men into thinking they’re crazy.
“But they always turn out to be right.”
Undone by eggplant emoji
She said another interesting case was when she helped a woman expose her cheating partner using emojis.
“They had access to each others phones and he was deleting everything,” Ms Croft said.
“So I told her next time she’s on there to check what his most recently used emojis were and of course she found the purple eggplant emoji.
“He was cheating after all.”
Ms Crofts said she did not condone breaking into partners’ phones.
“But if you already have access, which a lot of couples do, then take a look,” she said.
“If you know their email address you can usually find fake accounts linked to it online too.
“Another easy one is to put their email into OnlyFans to reset their password. We’ve caught a few liars out that way.”
Helping women
Beneath the scandalous nature of her job, Ms Crofts harboured a deep passion for helping women who were being taken advantage of.
“My work is a lot of cases where women are feeling really gaslit even though they’ve known for months or years about the cheating,” she said.
“But when they call out their partners they’re made to feel crazy. They’re told they are creating drama and making stuff up.
“Often they come to me just looking for some validation. The proof is already there.
“The majority of the time these women are right and we catch them. The signs are all there though.
“Women need to trust their instincts more. Listen to your gut. It’s your intuition.”
Ms Crofts is also hoping to make dating apps a safer place for women in Australia.
“Ideally there would be more safety measures on the dating apps and it would be more regulated by the government,” she said.
“Dating should be safe.
“I’m so sick of seeing headlines of women being hurt by their partners or men they meet on dating apps.
“Not just physically but often these women end up dating men with huge gambling debts or men who take out loans in their names.
“I started my TikTok to grow my audience so women know what I offer and that I’m here to help.”
