A Queensland surgeon is gearing up to expand his wellness empire, with his newest business set to feature float tanks, cold plunges and a traditional sauna.

The centre, which is set to open next month on Owen Creek Rd in Forest Glen, is the latest business instalment from Sunshine Coast surgeon Dr David McIntosh who also owns the Ninja Jungle and Synergy Performance Institute.

The centre will offer cold plunges, a traditional sauna, float tanks and remedial massage along with yoga and boxing classes.

Dr Mcintosh said the centre would be the first of its kind on the Sunshine Coast offering fitness classes and recovery services for people of all ages.

“There are gyms, and some gyms have saunas that are tucked away and they are usually the infrared ones,” Dr McIntosh said.

“But they don’t have the integration in respect to having the psychical exercise classes, like yoga and boxing classes.”

Dr McIntosh said the centre would not run off a membership, rather clients can pay when they “come and go as they please”.

Dr McIntosh’s venue’s imminent opening comes as another wellness centre submitted a development application for a site in Coolum Beach’s industrial area.

Project Urban lodged the development application on behalf of Trihop Trust proposing to build a new “exclusive lifestyle club”.

The project would take up a currently vacant lot in the Coolum Eco Industrial Park at 18-20 Link Crescent, Coolum Beach, in a medium impact industry zone.

Application documents state the club will offer state-of-the-art exercise equipment and recovery facilities, with a limit in members and attendance numbers.

Documents show the ground floor will feature gym zones for weights and cardio, a yoga studio, saunas, plunge pools and change rooms while the upper room will offer a recovery and consultation space.
