A family who bought a block of land for less than $90 in the 1940s is set to make millions after deciding to sell the Sunshine Coast beachfront property.

House hunters and developers have a chance at the rare purchase as the home, in “millionaires’ row” at Moffat Beach, is up for sale for the first time in 80 years.

Henzells Agency real estate agent Iain Simms said he heard the family bought the block of land for less than 50 pounds, about $87, in the 1940s.

He said the house, at 19 Queen of Colonies Parade, was built in the 1950s and had evolved over time.

Mr Simms said the family had most recently used the property as a holiday home.

“It’s certainly not been an easy decision to make the sale, but the family has decided to move on,” he said.

“We’ve got comparable sales in the area in the late $4 million and early $5 million mark.”

He said the house had been on the market for a month and interest had come from developers and families interested in living in the home.

“We’ve had really strong enquiries at a good price point, within Queensland, interstate and internationally,” Mr Simms said.

“It’s been a good house to have on the market.”

The block is zoned high-density to 15 metres and the home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an outdoor shower and powder room and a garden with an entertaining area.

The views are northerly to Point Cartwright.

“It’s certainly a comfortable holiday home,” Mr Simms said.

“I wish I had more of them because the level of enquiry has been really strong.”
