Sunshine Coast police need help on Maroochydore store armed robbery

A Maroochydore convenience store worker was held up by a robber wielding a large knife, sparking a manhunt by police who are now appealing for public help to find the alleged offender.

A man is on the run after he held up a Maroochydore convenience store with a knife.

Sunshine Coast police are appealing for help following the Australia Day incident at Maroochydore Convenience.

Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Craig Mansfield said the armed robbery happened to a worker at the Aerodrome Rd store about 8.40pm on January 26.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mansfield said police had obtained some CCTV footage of the offender, aged between 20 and 30 years, who used a large kitchen knife during the incident.

He demanded money from staff and, after obtaining the cash, fled on foot toward Parker St.

The man is described as in his 20s, proportionate build, wearing a long-sleeved fishing shirt, dark coloured shorts, a black shirt over his head and no shoes.

Police launch investigation into horror suburban crash

“Guy come with a knife and just said give me the cash, and the guy give him the cash, and then after that they call the police,” he said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mansfield appealed for any members of the community who were in the area on that date and time to come forward with information.

The police officer said any dashcam or CCTV footage would also be useful.

He said anyone with information could contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

The incident follows another armed robbery at a Duporth Ave store in November 2022, in which a hammer was used during the incident.
