A Sunshine Coast dad-of-four has been left heartbroken after his 40-year-old wife tragically died while getting their son ready for his first day of school.
Nambour resident Drew Duncan posted a heartfelt message on Facebook about the tragic loss of his wife, love and “partner in crime”, Lauren Watts, who “suddenly” died on Tuesday morning, January 24.
Mr Duncan said his passionate wife and “amazing” mother to their four children died while excited to send one of their sons to his first day of prep school.
“You were the heart of our family, and kept it beating with your love. Unfortunately, I think you must have used up all of your own beats on everyone else,” Mr Duncan said.
Mr Duncan described his wife as passionate, hard working and selfless.
“You always put everyone before yourself,” he said.
The mourning dad signed off part of his emotional post by promising to nurture their four children to be “people we always dreamt they would become”.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created by friend of the couple, Jacq Lawson, to support Mr Duncan with funeral fees and while he took time off to care for his children.
The fundraiser has received more than $21,500 from 193 donations so far.
Mrs Lawson said on the fundraiser’s page the couple had built a “wonderful” family.
“They stood together facing everything the world could throw at them,” she said.
Mrs Lawson said the mother was caring and full of life, love, smiles and laughter, saying the “world is a little less sunny without your light here”.
