Sunshine Coast fatal: Maroochydore motorbike rider killed in crash

A young man has been killed in a horror motorbike crash at Maroochydore after he and his passenger were thrown from the bike while not wearing helmets.

Police are investigating after a motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle crash at Maroochydore on Sunday.

Initial investigations suggest the motorcyclist and a pillion passenger were headed north on Centenary Crescent when the rider lost control on a curve and hit the gutter about 10.15pm.

Both men were thrown from the bike and neither was wearing a helmet.

The rider, a 25-year-old Maroochydore man, died at the scene.

The passenger, also a 25-year-old Maroochydore man, was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
