Fan's hopes of getting up close and personal with the NRL premiers and their prized silverware this week have been quashed after Storm cancelled their trip to the Coast.
The Melbourne NRL heavyweights were due to join the Sunshine Coast Lightning for a special fan meet and greet at Sunshine Coast Stadium this Friday before playing a trial game at Redcliffe the next day.
However, with the current Melbourne lockdown and 14-day border closure with Queensland due to a COVID-19 outbreak the Storm were forced to cancel their plans.
"There are currently no plans for Storm to move from its home at AAMI Park in Melbourne," a club statement said.
"The team has been given approval to continue training in Melbourne under the Victorian Government's directions and, as we have done in the past, we will monitor the situation closely and plan accordingly.
"The club will continue to seek advice from the Victorian Government and the NRL to ensure we can prepare for the 2021 season in the best way possible."
The region played a special role for the Storm last year, with the club based up here for much of the season to avoid COVID-19 restrictions in their home state.
