A new “urban village” will soon add more than 200 homes to Stockland’s Aura master-planned community at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, and feature Queensland-first “cool streets” technology.
The 210 terrace homes to be built in the Solas village at Aura will include a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom designs built by AUSMAR, Thompson Sustainable Homes and Vantage Homes.

House prices in the “boutique” village start at $499,000 and buyers will have an optional solar package available starting at $4,600.

The development will be the first in Queensland to use SuperSealing’s CoolSeal technology on the roads to lower the surface temperature.

SuperSealing general manager Cameron Pascoe said the technology was able to decrease the temperature of roads by 14 degrees, reducing the cost of road maintenance.

“While CoolSeal has been applied on roads across Australia, this is the first application in Queensland, and we’re looking forward to seeing sections of the new community designed and constructed utilising this technology,” Mr Pascoe said.

“The application of the CoolSeal product will bring significant benefits to the community by reducing road asphalt temperatures by up to 14 degrees Celsius.

“The application also lowers ongoing road maintenance costs and promotes environmental sustainability by incorporating recycled products including bitumen, high quality hard mineral fillers, polymers and recycled materials.”

Stockland Aura senior development manager Genaea Keith said the cool roads technology would be part of the wider environmental features included in the Solas village.

“The homes in Solas at Aura urban village use a combination of optional solar and mandatory home design features, including LED lighting, off-peak energy enabled appliances, peak-smart enabled air conditioners and low-absorbency rooftops to help increase energy efficiency and keep homes cooler,” Ms Keith said.

Solas will be located across from the future Nirimba future retail centre and next to the sporting parks.
