Journeyman striker Scott Rocker has unveiled his ultimate Sunshine Coast teammates in a side so stacked he says it would hold its own at A-League level.

Rocker, 44, enlisted his father Horst to help compile his dream team, picked from his senior playing days at Noosa, Kawana and Buderim.

Nicknamed “Bomber” during his time at Kawana, Rocker estimated he scored more than 500 goals throughout his Coast career and was a part of nine grand final winning teams.

He said his starting 11 would play a 4-4-2 with a diamond formation in the middle of the park with fullbacks pushed up high.

“If these guys were all in their prime together, no question it could go an A-League team, 100 per cent,” Rocker said.

Before his career launched in Australia, Rocker spent time at German club Mainz and came through the ranks when current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was at the club.

He then moved to RWO Alzey and once played a match against German giants Bayern Munich who featured superstars Jurgen Klinsmann, Didi Hamann and Oliver Kahn.

“It was in front of 35,000 people and I could have retired that day,” he said.

“They called me the Little Aussie Kangaroo. Coming from the Sunshine Coast to the world stage was unbelievable.

“They beat us 5-3 but I didn’t care.”

Below is Rocker’s ultimate 11 and substitutes and why they won selection.

He said no team in Sunshine Coast history would match them.

Rocker’s ultimate 11

1. Goalkeeper. Matt Keillor, Noosa: “He was just a young fella ... when I played with him, but such a big presence.

“(He had a) 70-80m kick on him, great hands and just no fear.

“He was brilliant.”

2. Left back. Joe Gagetti, Noosa: “Former Canberra Cosmos star in the old NPL days.

“He just glided.

“Strong as nails and very hard to get around.

“So professional when he came to Noosa.”

3. Right back. Scott McLean, Kawana: “I played with ‘Scooter’ in Brisbane and here.

“He could play anywhere.

“ You knew if he was in the backline no one got through.

“Just a tough defender.

“Not many liked him man marking them.”

4. Centre back. Matt Rocker, Kawana: “My brother was pretty hard to mark in the backyard.

“Such a big presence and controlled everything.

“Loved a tackle, very strong tackler which let the strikers know.”

5. Centre back. Ryan Smith, Kawana (captain): “He ran the show, just a general.

“He’d be my captain no doubt.

“So professional in the job and without him the sides in his later years would be unrecognisable.”

6. Holding mid. Shane Petersen, Kawana: “‘Sinna’ was no holes barred, just a strong, tough mid who never let you down. He had a huge engine too, ran all day.

7. Centre mid. Craig Hawkins, Buderim, Coolum: “I grew up playing with him and he was the standout.

“His sons play at a high level now.

8. Centre mid. Michael Williams, Noosa: “A Noosa boy through and through, I think he’s still playing thirds for the club.

“Just an awesome player.

“Very tall, scored a lot of goals against us.

“We would have to two-man mark him.”

11. Attacking mid. Tyson Holmes, Kawana: “He’s the youngest player on this list who was just above everyone when he came through the ranks.

“How to get strong on the ball, the runs to make.

“He was so clinical, so clever and could score with both feet.”

10. Striker. Jai Cross, Coolum and Buderim: “So fast, super fast.

“Great dribbler, who like Peter scored goals for fun.

“Those two up top, no one in the past 30 years could control them.”

“Loved a tackle.”

“Great leader who everyone followed.”

Liam Tucker, Kawana: “Another backline leader.

“No holds barred and always played 100 per cent.”

Coach

Alex Murphy, Kawana and Buderim: “He got me to come down from Noosa, which I was against because the rivalry was too big.

“He told me to come to training and the rest is history.

“He’d have some fun with this side.”
