Noosa boxing talents Jackson Thomas, Callum Hughes and Christian Davis ready to shine
A trio of Sunshine Coast boxing talents will step into the ring in front of a home crowd on Saturday night with two fighting for major titles and the other making his amateur debut. Meet the boxers ahead of their blockbuster bouts.

The Sunshine Coast boxing scene will come alive on Saturday night with a series of major fights at the Noosa Box Office Gym.
Three local fighters from the gym will strut their stuff in the ring along with 23 other amateur fighters from across Queensland and New South Wales.
NBO gym manager and promoter Summa Wood, who launched her promotional fight card in 2023, said she was excited for the gym’s third event.
“It’s been great so far and everyone is quite excited again for Saturday night,” she said.
“We like to pride ourselves each night being an amateur show with that prostyle feel.
“We run the shows like they’re professional fight nights with an MC, the flashy lights, loud music, big exciting walkouts and all of the fun stuff.
“It makes it a great energetic atmosphere and everyone is welcome.”
The action begins from 5pm with tickets available for purchase at the gym in the lead up or from the door on the night.
Meet the three local fighters stepping into the ring.
Jackson Thomas
Thomas has risen through the amateur ranks with pride and will look to defend his Australian Amatuer Featherwight title which he won in November 2023.
The 20-year-old will welcome Brisbane boxer Matt Choma on Saturday which will be Thomas’ 22nd amateur bout.
“Jackson first walked into the gym when he was five-years-old and he’s progressed into a very skilful southpaw fighter,” Wood said.
“He’s got a talented skillset as he’s a freak of nature that picks up on things really quickly.
“He has the ability to learn and perfect a skill before moving onto the next task and perfecting it with ease.”
Callum Hughes
Hughes, 20, will contest the Queensland Amateur Welterweight title on Saturday night in what will be his 10th amateur fight.
“He's a great technical boxer that is on a good winning streak at the moment after picking up victories in his last three fights,” Wood said.
“He’s very tall and uses that to his advantage but he can also get into the pocket and brawl when he needs to.
“Callum can manoeuvre really well as he has great footwork and is difficult to be figured out by his opponents.”
Christian Davis
12-year-old Davis will be stepping into the ring for the first time on Saturday night as he makes his amateur debut.
“Christian is a little Filipino kid but he bangs really hard so we like to compare him to Manny Pacquiao,” Wood said.
“He’s been training with us for a few years so we think he’s now ready and he’s comfortable enough to get into the ring in front of a crowd.
“He’s a very talented fighter and one that people look at and think ‘wow, you’ll go very far’ so we’re all excited to see what he can do.”
