Sunshine Coast rising football talent Lennon Biggs has edged another step closer to his elite level dream after securing an Academy contract with English Premier League Club, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The former Pacific Lutheran College student grew up on the Sunshine Coast playing for Caloundra FC, Sunshine Coast Wave Futsal and the Brisbane Roar Academy.

Biggs and his family relocated back to the UK earlier this year and was later invited to attend trials and training sessions at Wolves.

After impressing coaches, selectors and the board, the talented 15-year-old striker put pen to paper with the prestigious club.

“It was a very special moment for me and my family,” Biggs said.

“We were all very proud and it’s a really exciting time in my life.

“It was great to see all of the congratulations, well wishes and support coming from the Sunshine Coast as it made me realise my achievement and how far I have come.”

Biggs would now undergo a full academy program that includes training, playing and school education.

“I am hoping to become a professional footballer and one day play in the Premier League,” he said.

“I would really like to thank all the coaches who have helped me develop during my journey, in particular Korey and Kyle Nix of K3 coaching and Rui Spinola of ATFA and my former Caloundra FC SAP coach.”

Spinola, who first met Biggs when he was seven-years-old, said it was a major achievement for the rising star.

“Lennon always excelled from the very beginning as he had a natural talent that served him well and kept him in good stead,” Spinola said.

“Even as a younger player he was very co-ordinated, could score goals at speed and had a knack to get the ball at his feet.

“He’s a great kid that comes from a great family and I think the biggest improvement areas over the years has been his confidence on the ball and the respect he gets from other players and coaches.

“It’s not easy to get to the top level but seeing Lennon progress and achieve his dream is very exciting and makes not only me but everyone who knows him very proud.”

Biggs joins an ever-growing list of local ATFA Football stars that are paving their own professional path in Bailey Brandtman (Central Coast Mariners), Rhys Williams (U16 Joeys) and Ollie Allan (Manchester City Academy).
