Sunshine Coast rugby league talent Nancy Sullivan has edged another step closer to her NRLW dream after signing with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NSW Women’s Premiership.

Sullivan, who currently plays for the Sunshine Coast Falcons, Caloundra Sharks and Brisbane Natives, played her junior footy for the Noosa Pirates, Nambour Crushers and Palmwoods Devils.

The 18-year-old was awarded best forward following the Women’s U19 season but said nothing could of prepared her for the news she recieved on Monday.

“I was at the gym and my manager asked if I would want to play in Sydney which I said yes and then he said for the Rabbitohs,” she said.

“I just yelled and everyone in the gym looked at me which was funny and then I just started crying happy tears.”

The Nambour State College graduate is the eldest of six siblings and began playing club footy at 10-years-old.

“I started playing in the backyard with my siblings, cousins and friends and I just loved it,” she said.

“My whole family has played footy before so it’s in my blood and ever since I was little I’ve dreamt about playing NRLW so this is a big step forward for me.”

Sullivan is a damaging ball runner at lock or second row and will relocate to Sydney in September.

“I know I have to keep working hard to hopefully reach that next level,” she said.

“I want to show my siblings, other first nations people and the next generation that this pathway is possible.

“It’s hard work but just keep trying, keep pushing, stay positive and you’ll get results in the end.

“I know so many players that are so talented but they don’t go for it so I want to try and inspire others.”

Sullivan was extremely thankful for the support from her manager Craig Clifton, her friends, family, coaches, players, clubs and staff that have helped her reach this point.
