Family bragging rights are tough to claim in the Robinson household with a brother and sister boxing duo set to represent Australia at the Oceania Boxing Championships in Samoa from May 22 to 26.

Paige, 18 and Cohen, 16 are both products of Noosa District State High School and have been fighting out of the Impact Boxing Gym in Cooroy for more than seven years.

Paige is currently ranked ninth in the world after competing at the Youth World Championships in Spain in November 2022.

“I didn't get through to any podium fights but that whole experience was really good,” she said.

“It’s very cool to represent Australia again and it makes it that extra bit special to do it alongside my brother.

“I’m quite keen to get more international experience because I feel that’s just invaluable and I know we’ll both take a lot away from the experience.”

Younger brother Cohen said the pair started boxing just days apart.

“I was playing rugby league for ages but just loss interest and mum got me into boxing after I watched Rocky on TV,” he said.

“I thought it was pretty cool so I started and then literally a couple of days after I started Paige jumped in the ring because she felt like she was missing out.

“We don’t fight anymore but we for sure had heaps of competitions and good lounge room punch-ons when we were younger,” he said.

He said he was looking forward to his first international competition.

“I’m definitely very happy, I don’t think it’s properly sunk in yet but to finally get an opportunity like this is pretty special,” he said.

“Paige and I are in camp now at the gym, it’s been tough but it’s been good and we’re both just really looking forward to getting over there.”

Head coach Mark Evans said he was incredibly proud of both fighters.

“We’re all obviously very excited to have a brother and sister on the same team representing Australia at the highest level,” Evans said.

“There’s 19 people in the team and they’re the only two selected from the Sunshine Coast so it’s very exciting for the kids, very exciting for the gym and we’re going over there to collect some gold medals.”

Paige and Cohen both acknowledged the support and assistance from their coach Mark and their parents Megan and Danny.
