HAVE you ever wondered if it was possible to carve a pumpkin while under water, surrounded by aquatic life?

The team at Sea Life Sunshine Coast has not only proved that you can, but have set a national challenge for their sister aquarium attractions across Australia and New Zealand.

Sea Life Sunshine Coast curator Kate Willson came up with the wacky idea of hosting an underwater pumpkin-carving challenge to celebrate Halloween and instigate some friendly competition with the other aquariums.

"We definitely think we have the best underwater pumpkin carvers here on the Sunshine Coast,” she said.

Videos of divers completing the challenge will be posted to the aquarium's Facebook page at Sea Life Sunshine Coast.

Sea Life is set to carry on with the fishy fun at the weekend, with a pumpkin hunt, free scary face painting and trick or treating between 10am and midday.
