Scott Edwards James-Peck pleads not guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm

A Sunshine Coast concreter who allegedly punched a pregnant woman and attacked her partner inside a police station has fronted court to defend the accusations.

A 31-year-old concreter will defend himself in a court hearing after he was accused of punching a pregnant woman in the face at a Sunshine Coast police station.

Nirimba man Scott Edwards James-Peck appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on February 8 charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The charges came after he allegedly attacked pregnant woman Chloe Heath in the head after a verbal exchange between himself, Ms Heath and her partner.

\Disturbing audio emerges of alleged attack on pregnant woman in Nambour

Court documents reveal the alleged offences occurred in the Nambour Police Station on June 19, 2022.

Ms Heath and her partner have been named as the victim for each charge, documents show.

In the audio captured during the incident, Ms Heath’s partner can be heard yelling “she’s pregnant” before it escalates to Ms Heath’s partner yelling “get off her” and Ms Heath yelling “I’m pregnant”.

Following the incident, the mum said she was three centimetres dilated and had to take medication to prevent labour.

She had the earliest possible induction at 36 weeks.

Defence lawyer Rod Morgan told the court on Thursday he will not be able to represent Mr James-Peck due to a conflict of interest.

Mr James-Peck then entered pleas of not guilty to all charges.

Mr Morgan said his client may seek private legal representation before the trial

Magistrate Rod Madsen ordered a brief of evidence to be provided and set the matter for hearing on April 29.
