Saxony Walker: Immanuel Lutheran College student, 15, tragically dies after pool incident

A Sunshine Coast teenager has been remembered by her school in a stunning show of compassion after her life was tragically cut short.

A Sunshine Coast school community is in mourning following the tragic death of one of their students.

Saxony Walker, 15, is being remembered by the Immanuel Lutheran College community as a “beautiful young lady” after she sadly passed away following a pool incident.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics rushed to a private address in Buderim at 6.37pm on November 6 to reports a female teenager had fallen into a pool.

The spokeswoman said the teenager had suffered a medical episode.

She was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition, with critical care paramedics on board.

A SCUH spokeswoman said Saxony was transported to Brisbane Children’s Hospital afterwards.

Immanuel Lutheran College principal Colin Minke said the outpouring of love and support for Saxony’s family has been extraordinary.

“Sax was a wonderful and involved young person and she has left a real legacy at the school,” Mr Minke said.

“She has left a wonderful memory with the school after life was tragically cut short.

“As we move forward we will be supporting the family and the community with however we can.”

Classmates wore black armbands and held a minute’s silence during sporting events on Wednesday.

Mr Minke said they had initiated a touching tribute to Saxony.

“They wanted to honour Saxony and it was really wonderful,” he said.

“The Sunshine Coast is fabulous with connections especially through sport, and there was a real collegiality between all of the kids.

“Her loss has just been inconceivable as a lot of the teachers had many years with Sax.

“The school is now working to support the students and her siblings.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.”

Immanuel Lutheran College posted the touching display of remembrance to their Facebook on Wednesday.

The post has garnered dozens of comments and hundreds of reactions paying respect to a young life who had so much more to give the world.

“Tragic loss of a beautiful young lady who had her whole life ahead of her … It’s heartbreaking,” one commented.

“Such a horrible tragedy, thoughts are with the Walker family,” another said.

“Our hearts ache,” a person commented.
