A “prestigious” property auction with “luxurious flavour” will be commandeered by Ray White Maroochydore for the first time on the back of their most recent successful auction scoring tens of millions in property sales.

Ray White Maroochydore principal and auctioneer Dan Sowden will host “Auctions at Altitude” showcasing “premium real estate” with his team on March 14, 2024 at venue Altitude Nine in the Maroochy CBD.

The inaugural event was concocted after the success of Ray White network’s Coastal Living Auction in September where a 400-strong crowd of buyers, with almost 2000 more eagerly bidding online, snapped up $57m worth of properties in total.

More than 20 properties have been listed for the upcoming auction, with the real estate agency expecting more sellers to join the pot to benefit from the “maximum exposure”.

Mr Sowden said there will be upper-market properties in their selection but assured there will be something for everyone with all price venues on the day.

“We have launched Auctions at Altitude for those sellers who value the dynamic and fast-paced nature of our in-room auction experience, however do not want to wait until next September to sell,” Mr Sowden said.

Mr Sowden said the idea was driven by sellers asking for the agency’s next in-room auction event after missing out on the Spring collection in September.

“Spring has notoriously been one of the most popular times to sell in the industry,” Mr Sowden said.

“With the holiday tourism market through January and February, we found that we also needed a solution earlier in the year for our clients to consider.”

He hopes Auctions at Altitude will become an annual event and is considering launching a third event later in the year before the Spring auction.

The March event will be a “condensed” version of the Coastal Living Auction – run only by the Maroochydore office – but Mr Sowden said he is expecting similar success with several hundred bidders to be in attendance.

“We think that just as much as our September event has now been a fixture in the calendar for the last eight years … we also believe our March event will soon become that,” Mr Sowden said.

“What we noticed in the last two years however, is that the demand for luxury market sales is not only expanding, but also that the triumph of in-room auctions is becoming the preferred choice for sellers.”
