Mr Rolfe was the sole survivor of the highway crash that killed Gypsy Satterly, who police allege was known to Mr Rolfe, Terry Bishop and Jessica Townley near Federal on Friday, July 21 2023.

Maroochydore Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist told the court on Friday the three murder charges were to be committed to the Supreme Court in Brisbane for trial.

“I’m satisfied there is sufficient evidence to put the defendant on trial for an indictable offence,” Mr Stjernqvist said.

Police prosecutor Amanda Brewer told the court the brief to be handed to the Director of Public Prosecutions was “voluminous”, containing 154 statements and 110 exhibits.

Mr Stjernqvist granted a separate application to hand up the charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a motor vehicle and stealing.

Solicitor for Mr Rolfe, Leo Strachan, told the court no applications were sought in relation to the evasion offence and disqualified driving offences.

“They will proceed by a different route,” Mr Strachan said.

Mr Rolfe remains in custody and no application was made for bail.
