Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews are working to control a house fire in Caloundra on Christmas Eve.

‘Frantic’ scenes as residents fear gas bottle fire explosion

Emergency service crews were called to reports of a house fire on Mark Rd in Caloundra around 11am.

Five Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews including a senior officer arrived at the scene just after 11:20am and worked to control the blaze.

A QFES media spokeswoman said firefighters in breathing apparatus had made access through the homes front door to work at the blaze internally.

“Firefighters are working both internally and externally to control the low set structure fire,” she said.

It was later reported that the fire was under control at 12.15pm and operations ceased at 2.45pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics later transferred two patients in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

This comes after an elderly man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after he was found unresponsive at the mouth of the Maroochy River by lifeguards this morning.
