MORE than 250 people have gathered this morning for the much-anticipated presentation of property industry leader John McGrath, at today's Caloundra Chamber of Commerce's Better Business Breakfast.

His firm, McGrath Estate Agents, is opening two new offices every month, but he says business success is, in his experience, more about intuition than science.

The Sunshine Coast market was "primed" to take off, he said.

"This is the greatest market in Queensland right now.

"South-east Queensland. The golden triangle.

"I travel all the way around the world and I don't think I've seen a market that is better primed.

"I think this business community has unlimited potential and I think the real estate community is about to take off."

Mr McGrath had his "break" when Bondi real estate agent Ken Gresham took him on as a letting agent, he told the audience.

He decided to give it his all, working 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, and applied the analytical approach he used in sport - his passion as a youngster - to provide an "elite" service.

"I thought I'm going to give everyone I meet the best service experience of their life," he said.

"People remember the way you make them feel," he said, paraphrasing a friend.

"They might forget what you said, what you did, but they remember what you feel.

"I didn't care what people paid me, whether I was giving a speech for zero, it's a commitment to be your best at all time."

EARLIER:

MINISTER for Small Business Leeanne Enoch will join one of the property industry's most influential figures, guest speaker John McGrath, at a Better Business Breakfast today.

Organised by Caloundra Chamber of Commerce, the event will be hosted at The Sebel, in the Pelican Waters master-planned community.

Ms Enoch said the State Government was providing opportunities for local small businesses to innovate, diversify and enter the digital economy.

"The Sunshine Coast region is home to approximately 35,000 small businesses that are a big part of the local community and economy, providing goods, services and jobs," Ms Enoch said.

"This strategy will provide Caloundra's small businesses with stronger advocacy, connect businesses to each other to help them succeed and empower them to work smarter."

The popular quarterly event will likely draw a crowd of hundreds this morning.
