Construction has started on a “state-of-the-art” private hospital at the new Maroochydore City Centre.
The $100m Maroochy Private Hospital located at Mundoo Blvd is expected to be completed by 2025 to provide “world class medical services” to the Maroochydore and wider region.
Delivered by Barwon Investment Partners and Sunshine Coast Specialist Hospital Development, the tenants will include the University of the Sunshine Coast and global orthopaedic company Medacta.
The hospital will focus on musculoskeletal conditions among other specialist and healthcare services as well as pain management, sports medicine and Allied Health.
Established to be an education, research and clinical care facility, the hospital will also have high-end amenities and working spaces, and a rooftop staff relaxation area.
University of the Sunshine Coast vice-chancellor and president professor Helen Bartlett said the development would provide opportunities for students and researchers in various medicine and health programs.
Barwon Investment Partners head of healthcare property Tom Patrick said the company was honoured to be part of the project and creating local job opportunities.
“This venture paves the way for future advancements in medical science, positioning Maroochy Private Hospital as a hub for cutting-edge healthcare innovations,” Mr Patrick said.
Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson said the Maroochydore City Centre’s first medical and teaching facility will help provide access to essential services.
“This exciting development represents a major step forward in positioning Maroochydore City Centre as a vibrant and progressive destination,” Mr Jamieson said.
