Property history to be set when hammer falls on 70 Sunshine Coast homes

From multimillion-dollar apartments, hinterland hideaways and classic Queenslanders, 70 homes are set to go under the hammer in a one-day auction that could create Sunshine Coast property history.

A bidding frenzy is set to unfold when 70 Sunshine Coast homes go up for auction in one mammoth day of sales that could create property history.

Ray White Coastal Living Network is set to host its annual in-room auction event at Mercedes-Benz Maroochydore on Sunday with 70 homes on offer.

The cross section of properties available included new builds in Aura, Queenslanders in Nambour and multimillion-dollar apartments along the coastline.

Ray White Maroochydore principal Dan Sowden, who will be one of two auctioneers on the day, said he expected auction history to be made.

“It’s huge. I don’t think there’s been another day in Sunshine Coast history where 70 properties have been available in one day,” Mr Sowden said.

“Given the strength of the market, we could easily sell 50-60. It’s very likely we will.”

The auction, held on Sunday from 9am, is the group’s sixth annual event but the first since 2019 given Covid-19 scrapped last year’s event.

Mr Sowden said some of the properties had already registered a dozen bidders days out from the event.

“It will be really quite special,” he said.

At the group’s 2019 event, 21 properties sold for a combined $15 million during a four-hour auction blitz in front of a crowd of more than 400 people.
