Police release photo of alleged elderly bus driver attacker

POLICE have released a photo of a man they believe knocked out an elderly bus driver in a sickening attack this morning.

Police investigating the serious assault of a bus driver at Nambour have released the image of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

BREAKING: A bus driver has been taken to hospital after a violent attack at a Sunshine Coast bus station. 

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said while the investigation was in its first stages, witnesses had reported a man punched the bus driver as the vehicle was parked at the Nambour Railway Station and bus interchange about 9.15am. 

The attacker then left the scene before emergency crews arrived. 

The driver suffered head injuries, and was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition. 

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman couldn't confirm the age or gender of the bus driver.
