Police raid in Sunshine Coast and Hervey Bay leaves 29 arrested

Cocaine, marijuana, weapons and $40,000 cash have been seized in a series of raids across the Sunshine Coast and Hervey Bay with alleged ties to bikie gangs. WATCH THE VIDEO.

Closure of outlaw motorcycle gang operation, Sunshine Coast and Hervey Bay

Up to 29 people have been arrested including 10 members of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gangs after police busted an alleged drug network operating throughout the Sunshine Coast and Hervey Bay.

Police from the Organised Crime Gangs Group and Brisbane Tactical operations’ Taskforce Maxima targeted a number of people, including members and associates of several outlaw motorcycle gangs, executing 17 search warrants.

Taskforce Maxima worked in partnership with local police investigating Rebels, Bandidos and Comanchero syndicates, laying 110 charges.

Detectives allegedly seized a number of loaded firearms, large quantities of cocaine, ice and cannabis as well as evidence of other offending including stolen property.

Police will allege on August 22, 2022 in one of the search warrants Doonan home investigators seized cocaine and marijuana with a street value of more than $60,000.

Ammunition, weapons, $40,000 in cash and mobile phones were also allegedly seized leading to charges against a 35-year-old man and 33-year-old woman, both from Doonan.

Neither are alleged to be members or associates of an outlaw motorcycle gang.

The Doonan man was charged with supplying cocaine, producing marijuana, possess things used, possess proceeds of crime, possess property suspected stolen, possess ammunition, possess restricted item and three counts of possession of firearms.

The Doonan woman was charged with 16 drug and weapons offences, with the pair due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on October 7, 2022.

Detective Inspector Tim Leadbetter said police were committed to targeting organised crime state wide to make the community safe.
