More details have emerged of a Yandina teen’s alleged jealous rage which fuelled a stalking campaign against a woman he briefly dated.

William Brierley had only been seeing the woman for four months according to police when they allege he threatened to hurt a man she knew while bombarding her with intimidating messages.

These details were revealed in bail objection documents tendered to Maroochydore Magistrates Court last week when the 19-year-old was refused bail on five charges including unlawful stalking, entering a dwelling with intent by break at night and using a carriage service to make a threat to kill.

Court documents state Brierley and the alleged victim were in a relationship for four months which ended in April this year.

Police allege from April 29, the relationship “started to sour” with Brierley displaying “jealous tendencies” after pressuring the woman to share information about her past relationships.

Brierley continually visited Snap Fitness Caloundra, a witness’ home and even the alleged victim’s workplace, according to police, where he’d try to talk to her and leave gifts, including flowers and a bracelet.

In the early hours of May 31, police allege Brierley messaged the victim where he tried to reconcile and apologise. He then allegedly said to have a good day at the races. Police allege later that day the victim saw the 19-year-old at the races “watching her from a distance” and sent 43 messages “declaring his love for her”.

Tensions allegedly escalated on June 19 when the alleged victim hung out with another man.

Police claim after this Brierley allegedly sent this man messages threatening to kill him. Police allege Brierley left in excess of 20 voice messages “full of hate and vitriol”, where he threatened to attend the man’s home, put him in a boot and threatened to severely hurt and kill him.

Detectives allege he also sent numerous messages abusing the victim and threatening to kill her male friend.

Police allege Brierley, with another unknown man, attended the male witness’ home on the evening of June 30 where he forced entry.

Court documents state Brierley allegedly picked up a television and threw it at a wall before he smashed the driver’s side window of a car parked in the driveway with a crowbar.

It’s alleged in the bail objection affidavit Brierley walked to the park across the road and confronted and threatened the man.

“I have a knife and crowbar, I’ll kill you, I’m going to tear you limb to limb,” Brierley allegedly said, according to court documents.

Police claim since the alleged victim ended the relationship, the 19-year-old sent excessive messages to her that range from threatening past and current men in the victim’s life to suicidal, abusive, harassing calls and texts where he would declare his love for her. Police allege this was to attempt to make the victim “feel sorry and worried for him”.

Court documents state Brierley allegedly made in excess of 100 phone calls to the victim using a private number and left voicemails.

Police also allege Brierley sent messages to a number of the victim’s friends and family asking where she was, who she was with and to pass on messages he was going to kill himself.

Despite being asked by the woman to leave her and her friends alone, police allege Brierley continued to harass, abuse, and intimidate her and her friends.

Police claim in court documents Brierley was believed to be abusing drugs and has multiple associations with “undesirable persons” with criminal histories.

Duty lawyer Cherisse Breese applied for gyprock installer’s bail in court last Friday, where she said the 19-year-old made admissions to some of the alleged voice messages.

Ms Breese however said the 19-year-old strongly rejected the enter dwelling charge, where Brierley claimed he was at home at Yandina caravan park with his brother the night in question. Brierley claimed the manager of the caravan park saw him that night at home as well.

The duty lawyer said the teenager claimed to have had a “rough and traumatic childhood” and no “parental influences” since he was 11-years-old. Ms Breese said she was instructed Brierley spoke to a psychologist.

Police prosecutor James Allen said it was a strong case where he labelled the alleged break in a “very violent offence”.

Magistrate Rod Madsen told the Yandina man he was “in a lot of hurt” on Friday due to the severity of the allegations against him.

Mr Madsen, in reading witness statements tendered to the court, said some of the witnesses identified the Yandina teen at the alleged break in even though he was wearing dark clothing.

The magistrate said it might be said Brierley was doing “as much [he] could” to avoid being recognised, however a witness, who knew Brierley for years, told police he recognised the man to be “Billy Brierley”.

Mr Madsen refused Brierley’s bail and adjourned his matters to September 6.

Brierley, who appeared on video link in court, had his hand raised as he was refused bail, with Mr Madsen waving back at him.

“Thank you, see you later,” Mr Madsen told Brierley as the video link was disconnected.
