Two motorbikes crash on Maleny Kenilworth Rd in Conondale

A rescue helicopter has flown a rider to hospital after a crash involving two motorbikes on a Sunshine Coast hinterland road, which left two men with serious injuries.

A man has been flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter after a serious crash involving two motorbikes in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers were called to the crash on Maleny Kenilworth Rd at Conondale about 12.30pm Tuesday, October 17.

Two men were involved in the incident.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said one man had serious pelvic and leg injuries while the other had a serious head injury.

The ambulance spokesman said the man with pelvic and leg injuries had been taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital by road.

The man with a serious head injury was airlifted by helicopter to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A RACQ LifeFlight spokesperson said the rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene at around 1pm.

“The pilot was able to safely land the aircraft on a grassy area near the scene,” the spokesperson said.

“Local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated the patient before transferring him into the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.”

A police spokesman said although the motorbikes were off the road, motorists were delayed as emergency services worked at the scene.
