Three injured, man charged after alleged wounding on Ocean Street

Three men aged in their 20s have been stabbed multiple times during a wild brawl at the Sunshine Coast’s main nightclub strip. Two people have been charged.

Two people have been charged after three men aged in their 20s were stabbed multiple times in a wild brawl at a popular Sunshine Coast nightclub strip.

Queensland Ambulance Service tweeted paramedics assessed three patients at the scene of an alleged wounding on Ocean Street at 4.08am on Sunday.

Police will allege a 23-year-old driver armed himself with a knife and stabbed three men, aged in their 20s, before fleeing the scene on foot.

The driver was found just before 5.30am and was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment to facial injuries sustained during the brawl.

In a statement Queensland Police said a 23-year-old Buderim man had been charged with three counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, going armed so as to cause fear and enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.

A 20-year-old Nambour woman, who allegedly verbally abused police before assaulting a female officer, was also charged with serious assault of police causing bodily harm.

One of the injured men was in a serious but stable condition after he suffered stab wounds to his chest and abdomen.

A second man, also in a serious but stable condition, suffered chest and back injuries.

Critical care paramedics travelled to hospital with the two patients.

A third man sustained injuries to his back and was in a stable condition.

All three men were taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

The alleged male offender was remanded in custody and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The 20-year-old passenger was given police bail and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on November 5.
