Teens charged after car crash on Nambour Connection Rd in Woombye

A pair of teens have been arrested after allegedly running from a crash on the Sunshine Coast that sent three other teenagers to hospital.

Two teens have been charged after a two-car crash involving an allegedly stolen car that sent three teens to hospital.

Police charged a Caboolture boy, 16, and a Morayfield girl, 15, with unlawful use of a motor vehicle following the crash on Woombye on May 7.

A police investigation indicates about 8.45pm a blue Toyota Corolla was travelling north on Nambour Connection Rd and a white Suzuki Swift was travelling south when the cars collided at the intersection with McKenzie Rd.

The teen girl driver and teen boy passengers, all aged 17, of the Suzuki were taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police allege the driver and passenger of the Toyota ran from the crash before police arrived.

Police further allege the Toyota was stolen from a carpark on Matthew Terrace in Caboolture.

On May 16, officers charged the 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The boy was also charged with one count each of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, unlicensed driving and driver fail to remain at scene.

The girl was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act. The boy will reappear in the Maroochydore Childrens Court on May 21.

Investigators acknowledged those who assisted on the night and those who provided crucial anonymous information.
